the wedding of...........

On May 20, 1998, Glenn and I had the wedding of our dreams at Dupplin Castle in Perth, Scotland (United Kingdom).

Dupplin is a modern castle set in the midst of 30 acres of beautiful parkland on the outskirts of Perth - it actually has its own town name, Aberdalgie.

The drive into the estate is lined with 200 year old red Rhododendren bushes that were in full bloom while we were there.

Derek and Angela Straker are the hosts at Dupplin - Angela is a fabulous cook and Derek putters about looking after the guests and the grounds.

Our stay couldn't have been more enjoyable!

We left our B&B in Edinburgh around 9:00 AM. The wedding was scheduled for 1:00 PM and it was only about 50 or so miles to Perth.

The day was overcast and misty (which is said to be good luck!) with temperatures around 60 degrees.

We had a traditional Episcopal ceremony (old English version) offiated by Rev. Glazebrook in the Drawing Room. I wore an ivory silk wedding gown and Glenn wore a black Perry Ellis tuxedo.

A Scottish Pipe Major played the bagpipes before and after the ceremony - a fabulous accompaniment!

It was a small guest list due to the location: my sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie & Mark and Sandy & Brad (Brad is actually a soon-to-be brother-in-law - they were engaged during this trip :).

Following the ceremony we took wedding pictures around Dupplin Castle, after which we had canapes and champagne in the castle foyer.

We had a fabulous 5-course wedding dinner at Newmiln Estate - a wonderfully private 700 acre sporting and equestrian estate on the outskirts of Perth.

Susie, Mark, Sandy and Brad stayed at Newmiln. They would head back to London the following day so we didn't get to see them again until we got home.

Most all of the arrangements for our wedding day were made over the internet through Scottish Wedding Consultants (Thanks, Yvonne!)
